Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th, continues its showing of "Henri Donor-Hedrick: Out of Sight, Out of Mind: The Hidden Culture."

• Art Gallery & Classroom, in Fleming Place, 4005 S.W. 10th, will show paintings, drawings and other works of art by its gallery regulars and students.

• Arts on the Avenue, at Avenue Hair, 807 S. Kansas Ave., features works by Wendy Erichsen, Diane Gates, LuAnn Harris, Gary Jordan, Andre Negrete and Irene Redman.

• Art Guild Gallery of Topeka, in Fairlawn Plaza, 5331 S.W. 22nd Place, will highlight its featured artist for May, Connie English; continue its group show, "It's Not Easy Being Green;" and preview its "Cinco de Mayo Mexican Art Celebration."

• Artist Collection & Custom Framing, in Fleming Place, 4039 S.W. 10th, will open a new show of photographs by Laura Dalrymple and Susan Dunnaway titled "A Celebration of Kansas."

Ault's Academy of Art, 923 Fairlawn. The final art show and sale of paintings by Robert Ault, a pioneering Topeka art therapist who died in February, will be part of this month's First Friday Art Walk, as well as from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, for an opportunity to view and purchase Ault's watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings

• Beauchamp's Frame Shop & Gallery, in Westboro Mart, 3113 S.W. Huntoon, will showcase two styles of Zak Barnes' art — his plein air Kansas landscapes and his modern regionalist figure painting — in "Kansas Ladies and Kansas Landscapes."

• The Break Room, 911 S. Kansas Ave., will offer music and art with its ongoing display of Topeka West High School student art in its Avenue Window Art Gallery and karaoke with DJ Ricky B from 8 to 11 p.m.

• Classic Bean, 2125 S.W. Fairlawn Plaza Drive, which will be open until midnight, will feature "With and Without Words," an exhibit of paintings, photographs, fiber art, prose and poetry by members of the Topeka Branch of the National League of American Pen Women. Featured artists and writers are: Lee Bowers, Naomi Cashman, Edith Chandler, Celia Daniels, Evie Green, Ann Hochscheid, Nary Lenz, Esther May, Kris Luber, Elizabeth Nichols, Trudy McFarland, Nancy Overmyer, Cynthia Peterson, Barbara Petro, Sam Pierson and Gail Selfridge.

• Collective Art Gallery, in Westboro Mart, 3121 S.W. Huntoon, will open "Starts and Stops," an exhibit of monoprints and mixed media works about the art of rethinking by Pat Nobo.

• Colorfields Fine Art Glass Gallery & Hotshop, 5353 S.W. Wanamaker Road, again will be open from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. for hot glass demonstrations and to showcase hand-blown glass art, glass sculpture and torch work beads by Bret Ebberts and paintings, drawings, lamp-work bead jewelry, note cards and botanical designs by Roxanne Ebberts.

• Creative Art Photography & Gallery, 307 S. Kansas Ave., will feature in May digital photography by Maxine Bermudez. Her show is titled "Fire and Ice."

• Glass Expressions, 1250 S.W. Oakley, will have a special showing of new black-and-white handmade bead jewelry by Penrose Design, as well as show new marble weights with intricate floral designs by local artist Dick Wentzel.

• Phoenix Gallery Topeka, in the Brookwood Center, 2900-F S.W. Oakley, will introduce Fire Moon Raku Jewelry, a collaboration of artists Joyce Furney and Kyle Garcia, who create the jewelry from precious metals, pearls and repurposed raku ceramics. The gallery also is showing paintings by John Gary Brown and Jim Bagley, plus ceramics by Mitch Yung.

• Southwind Gallery at Framewoods of Topeka, 3074 S.W. 29th, will open a new show, "Spring Fever in Douglas County," an exhibit of oil paintings by Lawrence artist Joanie Whitenight.

Topeka High School,800 S.W. 10th, the third-floor art gallery will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. for "Americano," an exhibit of works by students in Whitney Jacobs' advanced photography class. Also on display will be photography by Anthony S. Bush, a 1993 THS alumnus and chief photographer at The Topeka Capital-Journal.

Visitors are asked to use the Western Street entrance to Topeka High to access the gallery.

Upstage Gallery in the lobby of the Jayhawk State Theatre of Kansas, 720 S.W. Jackson, will debut three shows: fused glass and dichoric jewelry by Nancy Goodall, photography by Mary Robinson, and "Illustrators Spectacular," an exhibit of fine art in illustrative styles by Shanon Fouquet, Lance M. Johnson, Mark Lakin, Candace Onnen and Joshua York. Elle Arilyn will perform during the opening.

• Warehouse 414, 414 S.E. 2nd, will feature photography and prints by Justin Marable.

Washburn University, John R. Adams Gallery of the art building, two Washburn students, Heather Petersen, of Hoyt, and Sarah McKinnie, of Topeka, will have their senior exhibitions, with an opening reception at 6:30 p.m.


• Westboro Fine Arts, in Westboro Mart, 3125 S.W. Huntoon, will display the latest work of Topeka artist Stan Metzger, as well as paintings by Jack Hetterich, Patrick Abellon, Sun Bauer and Jenny Forge-Schmalstieg and glass jewelry by Cassandra Cohen.
