Arts Connect Topeka
Annual Campaign

  Gliding through the sweeping emotions of a symphony performance, welling with pride at a child’s first dance recital, losing yourself in the drama of a theatrical production, exploring the layers of meaning in a painting or sculpture. These are all experiences that add fullness to our lives, but would not be possible without the presence of the arts.

ARTSConnect will ensure everyone in our community has the opportunity to experience these emotions, and more. By providing a predictable and sustainable source of funding for arts organizations, ARTSConnect ensures a strong and vibrant arts community in the greater Topeka area.

ARTSConnect has three goals:
  1. to enhance and expand access to the arts for everyone;

  2. to provide resources to strengthen and stabilize arts organizations;

  3. to position Topeka as an arts community.

Through your contributions to ARTSConnect, member art organizations are provided unrestricted grants to offset operating costs.

Even in the best run arts organizations, ticket sales and admission prices will only cover two-thirds of the organization’s operating costs. The rest must be found elsewhere. By providing a predictable source of operating funds, ARTSConnect strengthens the organizations and allows them to keep ticket and admission prices as low as possible, making performances more accessible to the broader community.

ARTSConnect also offers grants to non-member arts organizations and start-up organizations.

Any organization wishing to sponsor a one-time, short-term arts-related project or program may apply for a grant from ARTSConnect. Through its grant program, ARTSConnect helps bring more arts opportunities to the community.

ARTSConnect funds the priorities of the community.

All allocation decisions are made by a volunteer committee comprised of people like you - business and community representatives.

Building a strong arts presence is important to the well being of the community.

Not only do the arts increase the quality of life in our community, they also have a significant impact on our local economy. For every dollar invested in the arts, $20 of economic activity is generated.

Keeping a strong arts presence in Topeka is good for the city of Topeka and for the people of Topeka. Your gift to ARTSConnect can make it happen – for you, your family and your community.
