With the establishment of ARTSConnect, will the Topeka Community Foundation, and other charitable grant organizations, funnel all their funds for the arts through ARTSConnect or will they continue to provide funding outside of that channel?
There is no requirement that the Topeka Community Foundation or any other organization direct
its funding dollars through ARTSConnect,
  
What criteria was used to select the four member arts organizations for ARTSConnect?
We drew on the experience of established United Arts Funds in other communities for suggestions
on how to determine member organizations.
  
If I’m not interested in the arts, why should I contribute? OR Although I work in Topeka, I live outside the greater Topeka region, so why should I contribute?
The arts can play an important role in the economic vitality of the region, even if you personally never attend an arts event.
  
Will ARTSConnect be able to influence programming at the organizations it helps fund?
ARTSConnect is not about dictating artistic offerings. While organizations will be accountable for
how they spend the funds provided by ARTSConnect, they will never be required or expected to
seek approval from ARTSConnect for any of their artistic offerings.
  
Will organizations that receive funding through ARTSConnect still be participating in fundraising activities?
Yes, however member organizations will be asked to refrain from fundraising during the two-week
time period designated for the campaigns.
  
Does ARTSConnect have a paid staff?
Yes. Kathy Smith was hired as the first part-time Executive Director of ARTSConnect in May 2006.
  
What percentage of the funds collected for ARTSConnect will go toward administrative overhead?
For the first three years, the overhead for ARTSConnect will be provided through contributions from the six businesses participating in our pilot workplace campaigns.
  
How are funding decisions made through ARTSConnect?
A broad-based committee comprised of representatives from throughout the community and
participating businesses will make allocation and grant decisions.
  
How is the money I pledge to ARTSConnect used?
The funds donated to ARTSConnect are used in three ways:
  
Don’t these organizations earn enough money from ticket sales and corporate sponsorships?
No. Even the best-run cultural organization can only cover two-thirds of its operating costs through ticket sales and admission fees.
