Topeka Art Guild & Gallery (5331 SW 22nd Place, Fairlawn Plaza Mall): Many wonderful summer paintings, glass art and jewelry to browse through at the Topeka Art Guild Gallery. Unframed original art is also available. Come check out what our artists are showing. Well known Topeka watercolor artist, Connie English is featured in July. The guild is proud to offer scholarships to graduating seniors who wish to further their art education. July will feature Zoe Burkholder of Washburn Rural High School. Support local artists. Creations of Hope Gallery (727 S Kansas): We are excited to feature the pottery and other artwork of Grace Mather during the month of July. Grace states: "I take great comfort in expressing my life's journey through my artwork which affords me a connection to others through visual, tactile, and aural expressions. My artwork is a sort of diary of emotions attached to events in my life. I find that if I look back at any piece I can chronicle my emotions at the time of the piece's creation. NexLynx Gallery (123 SW 6th): Discover Art Downtown with local photographer Jared Hitchens. Jared has a passion for Topeka that comes from a life spent in the community. He has worked in graphic arts for over 20 years, but with his lens and artistic eye, Jared has captured some of Topeka's most beautiful landmarks. Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (1515 SW 10th): Looking for something to do after all those great fireworks? Come to the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery for our summer exhibition "Across the Universe" and explore space with us! You can create a constellations drawing, make landing module, or just play with our rovers. From 1-5p outside the gallery, help local artist Mark Hahn create his community art piece, “Content of One's Character.” Mark is asking the community to help his grow this work of art by adding their hand prints. Mulvane Art Museum (1700 SW Jewell Avenue at Washburn University): Two new exhibitions are opening at the Mulvane Art Museum just in time for First Friday. "Endangered Art: A Reprise," features paintings from the museum's permanent collection which are in need of conservation, along with recently conserved Endangered Art paintings. "100 minus 5: Variations in the Art of Printmaking," showcases prints from the past 95 years of the museum's collection and kicks off the countdown to the Mulvane's 100th Anniversary. Beauchamp's Gallery (3113 SW Huntoon - Westboro Mart): For July's First Friday, Beauchamp's will be exhibiting "Cattle Call" - a fun bovine inspired exhibit by Topeka artist Shirley Akers. Glaciers Edge Winery (1636 SE 85th in Wakarusa): We will have the tasting porch & patio ready for your FFAW at the winery. Our featured musical artist will be Patric Hamilton and Lago Vista Grill will be in serving menu items specially to pair with our wine! Enjoy wine & slushies by the pour or a bottle while enjoying live music! Feel free to bring lawn chairs to enjoy our outside vineyard view! Portico (900 N Kansas): Portico is celebrating their fifth anniversary in NOTO on July 3 and we're doing it in a big way! We have just acquired much of three living estates, traveled to Oklahoma and Nebraska searching for treasures and we are offering a "bang-up" inventory! Join us as we celebrate five years in business and Independence Day in the NOTO Arts District! Portico is proud to offer books written by local author, Ken Ohm. SouthWind Art Gallery (3074 SW 29th): Join us this July at SouthWind for the first annual "Jane Stephens Memorial Watercolor." Mary "Jane" Stephens of Topeka was a local watercolorist and mother to Janet Paduh, owner of SouthWind Art Gallery. She passed away in January of this year at the age of 92, and we thought there would be no better way to honor her memory than host a show celebrating the medium she loved most. NOTO Arts Center (935 N Kansas): Join us this month at the Morris Gallery inside the NOTO Art Center as we dish up some of your favorite NOTO restaurants and venues with our "Flavor of NOTO" show! This eclectic exhibit provides a sampling of the many local restaurants, brewery's, bars and event venue's that feed your stomach and feed your soul. Amused (907 N Kansas): Happy Independence Day weekend! Amused will be open regular hours for First Friday with lots of new stuff, multiple open artist studios, escape room and an exciting featured local artist. Spacin Jason is a Topeka-based colorblind artist who tries to bring a bit of street art and graffiti into your homes with each canvas. Judging by the colors that he mixes up himself, you cannot tell that he is colorblind. His style is a bit of a mash-up between Andy Warhol and Banksy. First Friday Artwalk hours are 11a-9p.
Matryoshka Tattoo (918 N Kansas): Matryoshka's featured artist for July is photographer Kevin Ketter. Kevin has been a nature lover his whole life. He has a green thumb and loves working in his flower beds and water garden. Kevin loves bird watching in his backyard. About two years ago, he bought a camera and his passion for photography blossomed. Most of his images from his backyard paradise. Regular hours are Tues-Sat from 10a-8p. 39 West Gallery (909 N Kansas): On exhibit at 39 West Gallery, Lola Williams. Lola has been painting with oils, watercolors and acrylics since 1989, and holds a BFA from the University of Kansas. Using subjects such as, flowers, wood, ponds and trees, Lola is able to find a sense of peacefulness and an increased connection with nature through her paintings. Also joining us this month Scott Weir of Top City Fox who will be demonstrating diddly bows, cigar box guitars, and other hand made instruments. Over 40 exhibiting artists and many items under $50 in our gift shop.
