Creations of Hope Gallery (727 S Kansas): Join the Creations of Hope Gallery for “The Art of Nature” - an exhibit celebrating the connection between nature and art as sources of inspiration, healing, and resilience. Nature-focused art will be displayed through the month of June. During First Friday, we will have plant sales by Jackson's Greenhouse and Jungle House Goods to benefit the Creations of Hope Gallery. Additionally, we are featuring the dynamic paintings of Tamela Blessed Art. Tamela uses color and nature as representations of her healing process from a rare brain disease. NexLynx Gallery (123 SW 6th, 2nd Floor): Discover art downtown with an opening reception for returning artist Pradeep Bangalore. Pradeep creatively constructs fine art utilizing a blend of cutting edge laser and computer graphics. He calls this process "Lasered Layers.” The 3-D artwork consists of painstakingly assembled multiple layers of intricately laser-cut sheets of paper. Topeka Art Guild & Gallery (5331 SW 22nd Pl. - Fairlawn Mall): The Topeka Art Guild celebrates summer with a new exhibit by member artists. Featured artist, Fred Hsia, will show oil and watercolor paintings. The guild is a non-profit organization supporting art education, providing classes and awarding scholarships to senior high school students to further their education in fine arts. Winners this year are August Merideth Lewis, Seaman high school; Zoe Burkholder, Washburn Rural; Maelin Turner, Jefferson West. Maelin's art will be featured in June. Mulvane Art Museum (1700 SW Jewell - Washburn University): Novel Art Narrative Paintings by Michael Young and Ian Young. The exhibition features paintings by father and son artists, based on famous literary works, “100 Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley. These works are on loan from the private collection of Kansas City collector Fred Whitehead. Entrance Level, Adeline Peers Galleries. Free Admission. First Friday Artwalk hours are 5-7p. Brookwood Shopping Center (2709 SW 29th): Our merchants have plenty of activities and sales going to keep the entire family occupied for #FamilyFirstFriday! We'll have activities going all across the shopping center, including the Kansas Children's Discovery Center mobile museum. Stop by for a night filled with games, shopping, and plenty of FUN! SouthWind Art Gallery (3074 SW 29th): "It is the sweet simple things in life which are the real ones afterall." ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder. Matryoshka Tattoo (918 N Kansas): Many of you may be familiar with the stoneware and ceramic art of this month's featured artist Sheila Wolf. What you may not know is she is also an accomplished painter. Along with beautiful ceramic pieces, she will be introducing several new collections in her latest painting series. We will also have wood working artist, Kevin Kaul, showing his patriotic art. Lago Vista Grill will be serving new menu items along with your favorites. Amused (907 N Kansas): Hello, summer! Nearly all of our studios are occupied and will be open for the art walk. Our theme is "Summer" and we hope you stop in to hang out in this really cool hot spot. We have a little something for almost everyone with painting and photography studios, a tattoo studio and escape rooms along with our expanded art gallery and gift shop space. Stephen Smith Gallery (931 S Kansas): Two ladies from two states! Stacey Utech, local featured artist of the 2019 Mulvane Art Fair, and Pamela Spika from Parker, Colorado. Stacey is bringing her new fused glass works and Pamela is bringing her vibrant mixed media paintings. STUDIO 831 (831 N Kansas): Hi Stockwell is our featured artist for June and July. His exhibit is titled "Bridges and Blossoms." He says: "One of my greatest joys in creating art is the search in nature and other locations to find shapes to display on a canvas. I hope that the viewer experiences some of that joy." Prairie Glass Studio (110 SE 8th): Prairie Glass Studio is excited to partner with the Cat Association of Topeka for this First Friday. We will have a special cat face ornament class for $25. Prairie Glass will donate 25% of the class fee and 50% of all retail purchases to the Cat Association of Topeka. So, come in and see all of our new cheerful creations. NOTO Escapes (907 N Kansas): Join us for the First Friday Art Walk in June for our ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration! Our ribbon cutting ceremony is at 6p downstairs outside our building, and our 20 minute Art Room starts running at 6:30p. Beauchamp’s Gallery (3113 SW Huntoon): A new exhibit opens this week just in time for the First Friday Art Walk. Showing thru mid-July will be the bovine themed artwork of Shirley Akers. The exhibit, entitled “Cattle Call,” will feature over 20 paintings, (both large & small), with every painting depicting Shirley's favorite subject - cattle.
