ARTISTIC EXPRESSIONS ARTIST RESIDENCY

With funding through the City of Topeka’s ARPA Social Service Grant Program, ArtsConnect will not only be able to offer monthly drop-in sessions of this program, but we will be training artists who will lead a 6 month-long version of this program under the umbrella of other nonprofit organizations in Topeka. Please read the information below for details about the Artistic Expressions Artist Residency Program.

Artists: If you are accepted into the artist residency program, you will be trained by artist John Sebelius in the Artistic Expressions curriculum and participate in at least 4 Artistic Expressions sessions as an assistant so that you can see firsthand how the program works. Then, you will be paired with an existing nonprofit organization where you will lead at least 6 sessions of the Artistic Expressions program as an artist in residence at that organization. You will be paid $25/hour for training (approximately 20 hours) and $60/session as an artist in residence. You will also receive a stipend for purchasing the necessary supplies.

Organizations: If you are accepted into the program as an organizational partner, you will be paired with an artist who has completed the Artistic Expressions training. Organizations will be asked to coordinate and promote six (6) sessions of the Artistic Expressions Program, which will be led by your artist in residence. As explained above, the artists will be paid for their time and so there is no cost to your organization for participation, but we do require that you commit to ensuring the success of the program by reaching out to clients, supporters and anyone else who might be interested in attending sessions led by your artist in residence. We are hopeful that this program will be a resounding success and that your organization will continue offering the program past the initial 6-session program. support the artist inArtsConnect is currently accepting applications from artists and organizations who are interested in being a part of the 2023 Artistic Expressions Artist Residency Program.
